چکیده

In this work we propose a lightweight scheme for negotiating client’s capabilities in the context of end-end content adaptation for wireless web access. Our method is much less complex then W3C’s proposed CC/PP framework. We suggest that for the purposes of content negotiation all (mobile) clients could be grouped into a few relatively large categories. With this assumption we simplify the CC/PP protocol and implement it as an Apache module. This paper describes the simple CC/PP protocol, issues related to its implementation, and performance measurements.

TCP in a wireless world - Internet Computing, IEEE

M obile wireless is one of the more challenging environments for the Internet protocols, and for TCP in particular. One approach to supporting the wireless environment is the so-called “walled garden.” Here the transport protocol used within the mobile wireless environment is not TCP, but is instead a transport protocol that has been specifically adapted to mobile wireless. In this model, Inter...

An End-To-End Approach for Transparent Mobility Across Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

With the advent of a myriad of wireless networking technologies, a mobile host today can potentially be equipped with multiple wireless interfaces that have access to different wireless networks. It is widely perceived that future generation wireless networks will exhibit a similar trend in supporting a large variety of heterogeneous wireless access technologies that a mobile host can choose fr...

End - to - end data deduplication for the mobile Web : extended report

The emergence of affordable mobile devices with rich interfaces and access to high bandwidth wireless connections has revolutionized mobile Web access. However, such new trends also imply downloading larger data volumes from the Web, with considerable battery and, often, monetary costs that inevitably degrade user experience. One natural direction to tackle such a challenge is to exploit the su...

The Role of Regulatory in Price Control and Spectrum Allocation to Competing Wireless Access Networks

With the rapid growth of wireless access networks, various providers offer their services using different technologies such as Wi-Fi, Wimax, 3G, 4G and so on. These networks compete for the scarce wireless spectrum. The spectrum is considered to be a scarce resource moderated by the spectrum allocation regulatory (“regulatory” for short) which is the governance body aiming to maximize the socia...
